The legislative process for the DPP follows two parallel tracks, each serving a distinct purpose.
The first track focuses on defining the DPP system, establishing the core data standards and protocols that will apply across all product groups. This ensures a unified framework for data management, accessibility, and interoperability.
The second track is dedicated to defining the product group-specific DPP data set requirements. These requirements are introduced through delegated acts under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), ensuring that each product category has tailored data obligations while aligning with the broader DPP system.
Together, these two tracks form the foundation for a structured and standardized approach to digital product information, supporting transparency, traceability, and sustainability across industries.
